How to Travel Interstate With COVID-19

Compared to relocating locally or within the same state or territory, relocating interstate under any stage of coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-related restrictions is a little more complex. This is largely due to the fact that various states/territories have imposed border entrance restrictions. While interstate removalists are currently exempt from these restrictions in all states, this exemption applies only to the movement of your household contents; the exemptions do not apply to you and your family, and your ability to settle in comfortably at your new address is influenced by each state's own regulations.

The general suggestion to delay or postpone a house relocation during this time period is particularly appropriate to interstate moves, although with the caveat that this is not always practicable for a variety of reasons. The procedures mentioned earlier for how to move home with COVID-19 still apply to interstate house transfers, although with Step 1 requiring significantly more care. It is critical to remember that state/territorial limitations can alter at any moment, not just when a state decides to transition to a new stage or degree of restrictions, but also when the criteria for individual restrictions change. Thus, what pertains to interstate moving now may not apply to your real move.

As removals are a critical component of our company, Cheap Interstate Movers maintains contact with major regulatory bodies to ensure we are continually informed of new or changing laws or limitations affecting freight and logistics services. When you book your interstate house move with us, we will discuss any restrictions that may apply to your move, as well as possible solutions; and if you have already booked and scheduled an interstate move with us, we will contact you as soon as any new restrictions are announced – or existing restrictions are eased – ensuring that you are kept informed throughout the entire process.

To alleviate the difficulty of relocating interstate while COVID-19 limitations remain in effect, we have produced a concise summary of border entrance restrictions for each state as they pertain to relocating.

Interstate relocation to New South Wales

House Moving is permitted under the current What you may and cannot do regulations. Removalists may transport your household items to your new NSW residence regardless of whatever Australian state or territory you are leaving. Additionally, there are no self-isolation requirements for interstate border entrance at the moment, and you will not be required to submit any Arrival Forms or Border Passes.

Interstate relocation to the ACT

At the moment, there are no self-isolation limitations or procedures for interstate border entrance, nor is it necessary to produce Arrival Forms or Border Passes. Cheap Interstate movers will bring your possessions to your new house, allowing you and your family to settle in quickly.

Interstate relocation to Victoria

There are presently no self-isolation rules or limitations for interstate border entrance into Victoria, and there is no obligation to show a Border Pass or Arrival Form. House relocation is expressly excluded from existing limitations, which means that neither you nor our removalists should be impacted, even if you are relocating from another state/territory.

Interstate relocation to South Australia

On 24 March 2020, a need for self-isolation or self-quarantine for a period of 14 days was imposed, applicable to all people entering in South Australia from outside the state. At the moment, no expiration date has been specified for this criterion. Checkpoints have been established, and you will be asked to present police with your information, including the South Australian address at which you will self-quarantine. During your 14-day self-isolation, you will be permitted to leave this address only if you require medical attention or are in an emergency circumstance. Our movers are free from this restriction, which means they can deliver your household items to your new residence.

Interstate relocation to Western Australia

On March 24, 2020, anybody coming in WA from outside WA must complete a 14-day self-isolation requirement. However, on sep 5, 2020, a temporary border shutdown was enforced, with no date specified for re-opening. Our removalists are exempt from both limitations, but not you and your family. If you want to relocate to Western Australia when the border is closed, you will need to request for an exemption, which is not guaranteed. It is advised that you apply for exemption well in advance of any intended transfer to WA, in case your request is denied. If you are permitted into WA, you can self-isolate at any place you like (even your new home), but you cannot leave for 14 days unless for medical treatment or an emergency. Your arrival form can be printed and completed ahead of time. Western Australia likewise has regional travel limitations that govern when and how you can travel between regions within the state. The level of limitation varies by location.

Over the course of our more than ten years in business, one of Cheap Interstate Movers' primary priorities has always been to make local, interstate, and international removals as simple and hassle-free as possible.
