Household Relocation
Almost all of us have done it at some point in our lives. Moving is commonly acknowledged to be stressful, difficult, and expensive, but it is unavoidable.
At BSPC, we have several basic beliefs by which we manage our business, but one of our initial goals was to eliminate the difficulty and stress of relocating. Having gone through difficult moves ourselves, optimising the overall moving process is a significant motivator for our organisation.
It is possible to relocate without worry!
· If not stress-free, at least less stress! These are our top 9 moving stress-reduction suggestions.
· • Clear the clutter before you start packing.
· The most efficient approach to decrease the expense and stress of your relocation is to declutter. Moving house is an excellent time to reassess all of your stuff and determine what is and isn't required to carry. You may even gain money by hosting a garage sale and selling your unwanted things online for cash while decluttering. Reducing the amount and weight of the objects to be relocated might also help you save money on removalist expenses.
· Colour code system - have a coloured tape for each room
This is a great time saver when it comes time to unpack at your new home. When you are packing buy a few different coloured tapes to put onto your moving box. Each room gets its own colour, that way when you are unpacking you can take the correct box directly to the correct room for unpacking which saves opening and closing, rifling through boxes and moving them from room to room.
• Have enough packaging materials
Having enough packaging supplies on hand before you begin packing can save you time and worry, and will result in fewer breakages or damaged things at the end of your move. Packing supplies for moving house are easily available from any packaging professional, Bunnings Warehouse, or Office Works. Also, go on Gumtree and eBay for free posted packing items - many people want to get rid of boxes, etc. after moving, so they're fairly frequent.
· Take inventory of your packed stuff.
· It's a good idea to keep an inventory of your belongings while they're packed for peace of mind. If the worst happens and your products are damaged or destroyed during transportation, you'll have everything you need to provide to an insurance company for a claim rather than trying to recall everything you transported.
· • Make a moving check list to help you recall critical chores.
· It's a good idea to have a relocation checklist. It will remind you at all phases of the move to stay on top of duties as they arise, rather than arriving three days before your move and discovering that you've done nothing to prepare! There are even moving applications available now that can alert you of activities that need to be completed in the months preceding your relocation.
· • Pack first, then stack
· Keeping your home neat and organised during the moving process will increase your tolerance for the moving boxes and sense of unpredictability that come with the territory. As you pack boxes, tape them up, inventory and mark them, and stack them in a common area like a spare room or garage. This way, you won't have odd boxes and goods strewn about the house, which will make you feel more organised.
